Aquatics Program Descriptions
Water Babies Clinic
This ½ hour class is designed to give parents the opportunity to receive helpful tips on having a safe, fun and rewarding water experience with their child.
Tot Triathlon
A fun race involving swimming, riding 2, 3, or 4 wheeled vehicles, & running. All children “win” and receive a t-shirt and medal. Parents may give participants as much help as needed.
Flipper Skipper
This preschool program is for all ability levels who want to improve skills and have fun.
Pike
A Beginner I preschool class designed for water adjustment, learning rules and personal safety.
Eel
A Beginner II preschool class for improving basic skills such as front/back float and paddlestroke.
Ray
Intermediate preschool class for more independent swimmers progressing towards no float belts.
Starfish
Advanced preschool swimmer, upper level skills and very little float belt use.
YMCA Swim Team
Competitive swim program for swimmers ages 5 – 17 who can complete 1 length of the pool. All team members may travel to compete in meets during the season – November to March.
Jr. Lifeguards
Class for 11-14 year olds to improve their strokes and learn basic lifeguarding skills.
Stroke Clinic
A class designed to improve strokes and endurance.
Aqua Fit Kids
A fun water fitness class using aerobics, kickboxing, equipment and music.
Aqua Fit Kids
A fun water fitness class using aerobics, kickboxing, equipment and music.
Lil Shrimps
Parents can enjoy time with their child while learning tips on making their child’s water experience fun and safe.
Polliwog
Water adjustment for the beginning swimmer. May use a float belt.
Guppy
Beginner II level swimmer with basic swim skills and more confidence using no float belts.
Minnow
Intermediate swimmer able to swim good front and back crawl for 20yds.
Fish
Swimmer with strong front/back crawl, survival skills, and beginning sidestroke and breaststroke.
Flying Fish
Advanced swimmer able to swim 50yds of all strokes with upper level survival skills.
Shark
Highest level swimmer able to swim 100yds of front/back crawl and beginning lifesaving skills.
Lifeguard Class
Red Cross certified class for ages 15/up, includes certification in First Aid, CPR & AED.
Private Lessons
Swimmers purchase a punch card for a predetermined number of ½ hour lessons to be scheduled at the convenience of the swimmer and the instructor.
Water Fitness Classes
A variety of water aerobics classes for all levels of fitness and all ages.
Family Times
Special times scheduled to allow children 6/over to use the whirlpool, steam room & sauna when accompanied and supervised by an adult. The use of the YMCA’s toys is also allowed.
