The Forest City Y and Cabin Coffee Company are hosting Creative Spirits of Okoboji! Join us at the Y at 12:15 p.m. to paint “Shade.” The instructor will walk you step by step through the creation of this fun beach painting. The cost of the event (all supplies included) is $35, plus bring $5 to enjoy a cool coffee drink from Cabin Coffee Company. You will be done painting before the kids get out of school. Two $1,000 college scholarships to be awarded
FOREST CITY- The Forest City Y is accepting college scholarship applications from high school graduating seniors who plan to pursue a career in a social service profession. Two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to aid in the cost of college tuition. Applications should be submitted to the Forest City Y by Friday, March 30, 2012.
The Y administers a scholarship fund that was established through a generous contribution from the estate of Merrill G. Oleson. Oleson devoted his professional career of 36 years to the ideals of the YMCA.
Two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to deserving high school graduating seniors who are interested in pursuing a college degree in social service or people-serving professions and have exemplified personal characteristics of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
Applications will be accepted at the Forest City Y through Friday, March 31, 2013. The application form is shown above and is also available at area high school guidance offices.
